Match Report:
Bristol City Futsal Club’s first official FA Futsal National League fixture of the 2014/15 campaign kicked off yesterday against Birmingham Futsal Club.
Bristol City immediately started the more positive of the two sides in the opening exchanges of the game and they soon got their reward, this after Birmingham had surrendered possession of the ball inside of their own half of the court. High pressure from Parkes enabled Luke Ballinger to smash home and score the first official goal of Bristol City Futsal Club season.
Bristol City soon doubled their lead with George Nash slotting coolly through the goalkeepers legs. Tom Hurley then brought the ball down out of the air and went on a dribble before being fouled and the free kick was dispatched excellently with Ballinger getting his second of the game and Bristol City Futsal Club’s third.
The home side then pulled one back, a kick-in inside of Bristol City’s half allowed Birmingham Futsal Club to neatly work the ball around and then through the Bristol City defence allowing the winger to smash the ball across the face of the goal for a close range finish at the back post. But their momentum didn’t last long as soon after Ballinger again went on a dribble down the line after initially plucking the ball from the air and fired a superb shot into the far corner of the net to extend Bristol City’s lead to 4-1 and register his hat-trick.
Birmingham added a second soon after the break, this time after neat play inside of Bristol City’s half enabled them to score another well worked team goal. Parkes pressed the ball high up the court and again pinched it from the defender before getting fouled gifting the away side a 10 metre penalty that Ballinger dispatched to make the sure 5-2. Ballinger then took his second 10 metre penalty after Sion Kitson was fouled by the keeper but this time missed.
Entering into the final stages of the game, Birmingham decided to play with a fly goalkeeper when attacking but it was Bristol City who had a few more chances to extend their lead with long range efforts going wide.
The final score at the end of the game at the Birmingham Futsal Arena was Birmingham Futsal Club 2 - 5 Bristol City Futsal Club.
